Knowing how to assign the right tasks to the right employees is an important skill for all managers. Furthermore, when used effectively, job assignment and empowerment can be used by managers as a tool to motivate and develop their subordinates. Contrary, assigning the wrong tasks to the wrong persons will only demotivate employees, create frustrations, and reduce productivity.
To ensure that their managers have the right skills to assign tasks and empower their subordinates, Canon engaged SPECTRA to conduct Job Assignment Workshop on 26 & 27 December 2011. This workshop was attended by 30 managers from various departments. Upon completing this workshop, participants know what tasks they should delegate, how to choose the right person to delegate tasks to, how to use empowerment, how to follow up and create accountability, and how to make delegation attractive to the staff.
