As a major manufacturer of footwear, Chang Shin Vietnam strives to provide its company leaders with necessary skills to successfully manage the performance of their subordinates. In January 2013, Chang Shin appointed SPECTRA to be its training partner in conducting Performance Management Workshop for 60 of its managers, leaders, supervisors and assistant managers. The workshops were conducted in two sessions: 21 & 22 December 2012 and 11 & 12 January 2013.

Having managers who are able and willing to coach and mentor their subordinates helps organizations to perform at a high level.  As managers have wider spans of control nowadays, managers must be able to effectively coach and mentor their subordinates. By doing so, managers do not only help their subordinates to grow, they will also be able to develop closer relationship with their followers and reduce turnover.

Performance Appraisal is an important opportunity for both managers and subordinates to have dialogue, evaluate peformance and determine areas of improvements. Unfortunately, many managers do not have the skills to conduct effective performance appraisal. As a result, many managers just spend 5 minutes to give vague feedback to their subordinates and to get them to sign the forms and treat performance appraisal merely as formality. (more…)
